View Full Version : Fuel Hat Bolts

My car is leaking from the hat badly, thinking the bolts are no longer snugging the lid down enough. Anyone know what size and thread bolts are used on the hat so I can replacements and hopefully get the lid tightened down?

Might be a description in the Ford part??
Gasket is fairly thick, should not need to be mega tight to seal. Did the gasket still look decent?

Buddy at dealer says its M6x1x12mm so theres that.

Gasket looked fine to me, but it is pissing out from the top. Dropped tank and wiped up the massive spill, could see it pooling around the hat again almost instantly. Maybe a wire or something is caught in the gasket?

Leaving work early today to try and siphon down the tank and drop/check it out again. Stay tuned I guess.

Hood rat shit commencing. Some wires under he gasket, moved em and put new bolts in and no leaking so far. Fresh pass of undercoat on the tank cover and we're back on all four. About to grab the wife, eat then hit the streets.

Ya, I hit that up and the big show. Went with my neighbor and his 70 Nova and his dad in his comp O Boss. Amazingly fun time, gf came, we all cruised for a while, then parked had some beers and chit chat. Perfect car night. Thanks all for your help and assistance

Ya it looked like a good show/cruise, we saw a bunch of cool rides while out on a date night, never actually stopped and watched, just kinda watched in passing.
Also saw the Gulf GT at Performance in the service bay Friday.
