Just getting reports of a possible strong tornado passing through, significant damage to some buildings.

I'm nearby, apparently one touched down in Windsor at central and ec row expressway, did some damage to a building and tossed debris on the roadway.

I was watching Mark Robinson's live stream, and he got there shortly after it went through. Looks like it was solid EF2, hopefully no one got hurt.

Not sure, just relaying what I've heard from others. I'm about 10k from where it happened, watching a movie downstairs with the kids, lol.

So far no reports of injuries, someone tweeted a photo of the tornado to The Weather Network though.

From what I understand it did but given the on going outbreak south of the boarder, I'm surprised EC didn't even have a watch out.

Not the first time they've been late on the draw, or completely dropped the ball. Last Friday night, I was chasing a storm that was pretty intense and there wasn't anything on it.

Definitely looks violent, I even noticed some apparent suction vortices. It almost looked like the Tuscaloosa EF4 from 4/27/11, though I'm doubting it was an EF4, most likely a high EF2 to mid EF3.

In the crash tests, F-150 outpaced the competition. Does fail miserably if it should catch on fire though. Pics on the web of virtually bare chassis with body's burnt completely away.

BAB CObra
08-25-2016, 08:21 AM
well fire is something else. lol will melt aluminum quicker than steel as the melting temp is lower.. but.. in the web world.. ppl dont understand the physics of a guy wire and 80mph lol

- - - Updated - - -

but to state its not tough because of a 80mph guy wire slicing through.. is dumb considering we top crash test

ZR
08-25-2016, 08:41 AM
On the flip side, just because it aced the govt crash test, does not mean the alum structure is the hottest ticket in a oddball accident like the guy wire. Cool part, crash testing pushes all the mfgs to up their game which of course means we the consumers win.
Also, we can't discount how they burn. Vid of a prototype catching fire are a bit alarming, flames pick up steam way too fast for my comfort level. If it turned out to be caused by a major fuel leak or the such, explains why it seemingly went up super fast. Accidents with fire and occupants trapped are real world, hope vid was not a fair depiction of what would transpire.

Apparently you don't know the situation either because a guy wire did not "slice" open that truck. It was cut open by rescue.

it was a guy wire accident that did it.. they might have sliced it up after.. but i know he was untouched other than the airbag

Saw the second one that trashed up Central Windsor from my yard not the one that hit LaSalle. Friends of ours were two streets over from where it hit, said they saw it roll right by the backyard.

Although this was a quick developing storm, I feel Environment Canada doesn't pay attention to this area. Several times watches and warnings are issued for our area AFTER the storms have passed!

The international boundary is not where they begin. There were several indicators that this could be a problem. I don't believe a watch had been issued either.

Came home to emergency sirens a few weeks ago when a heavy storm was in the area, all my neighbours thought it was just another test... Guess the high winds and pouring rain didn't make them think something was up.

Glad we have the siren close by for just such an occasion.

Saw some vids of it in action, my buddy Jeff said it went right down a street a block away from him, went towards his house but turned at the park that's in his backyard and went on to another street. Tore a massive tree out of the ground a block away from him, no damage to his house, just random stuff blown all over the area.

Oh my. I can only imagine the suction that ripped the welds off that roof deck and buckled the steel joists! That roof must have ballooned outwards almost to the point of lifting right off.

Don't have a picture, but there was talk of one of the roofs being sucked up as you described, so it stood on the eaves before it collapsed. One of my clients buildings, a 2 story, had the bricks on one wall ripped off.

I think the picture of the roof is Kautex; it is speculated they will be out of business for about six months.

Second or third pic has red brick, I don't think any of the latex building had brick. I know they got hit hard, and WDS is right across the road so they likely had some damage also

My recycle didn't get picked up either - WDS does the job. They likely couldn't get the trucks out...actually there is a report somewhere (Windsor Star or AM800) about that.
