Currently set up on my 1997 cobra with an aftermarket catted X pipe, straight pipes with no mufflers.
I love how the car sounds.
I love how loud it is.
However, I'm a little nervous not running any mufflers. Thinking of upgrading the cat back in the spring.

What mufflers would allow me to be legal, yet keep the car sounding the way it is?
Flow master 10's?
Magnapacks?

What tailpipes look the best on these cars?
What size tailpipe, 2.5" or 3"?

Dave has SLP Loudmouths.
My vote would be Flowmaster, impressed with the lack of drone and great exhaust note out back on my own. Have previously run Magnaflow and SLP's.

Yes Ghostrider runs SLP everything, front to back. If you love the way your car sounds now with straight pipes....add in a set of SLP Loudmouth 1's and you will still retain your happiness.

SLP LM will be a little louder than your straight pipes, the size and design of the resonator increases the volume

So as far as loudness goes out of the ones listed (and I added the SLP LM II for comparison):

- SLP LM
- Straight Pipe
- 1 Chambers (Flowmaster 10 Series)
- SLP LM II
- Magnaflow Magnapacks
- Flowmaster AT (40 Series)

^^^All these will be affected differently by different aftermarket X or H pipes

and LOL at Don :D

I'd agree, if you like the sound now, LM1s will not disappoint.

Never been a fan of flows, agree that SLP lm1s will give a very similar sound to what you currently have, I loved the sound of them on my Bullitt, no headache, just awesome. Got a lot quieter with the stock h-pipe but still sounded good.

No clip but sounds very similar to what Ghost posted.. minus the cams. Stock car and it sounds pretty horny. Some like it some don't.

Update

Installed longtubes, Catted H pipe, Pypes M80 mufflers, and full 2.5” stainless tubing, and it’s exactly the sound I was looking for.

LOUD lol
