Plot twist, all the exhaust connections are now sealed up tight, can't feel any air exiting at any of them. But still has a ticking/sewing machine sound at that X crossover. Now believing the noise is the exhaust pulses colliding coupled with the thin walled tubing making noise. That said its nice to not smell exhaust in the car, and car is behaving differently as a result of the lack of leaks it seems.

Years ago feat ailing at the dealership we used to degrease and pressure wash.

As mentioned avoid the alt and intake. Also do it while the engine is hot and running

Leave it running after. Heat helps dry out stuff.
    Si senor

Dis be the way it work.

I dunned it many a time while working at detail shops. Even did it to cars while not running, never had a problem. Open air filters get covered with a plastic bag and elastic band. Blasting the alt is ok, but dwelling on any electrical is problematic.

Degreaser and letting it sit for a short bit and then blast away with pressure washer. Blow dry and presto, fancy smancy new engine bay homie

I'd say 70% awesome. The ticking is mucho annoying, but I'm not about to drop $700 on a new X this year.
