351.8 (Mar 28) - 348.0 (Apr 04) = 3.8 down this week.

5.4 + 3.8 = 9.2lbs down total so far.

348.0 (Apr 04) - 350.1 (Apr 11) = +2.1 gained back.

A bit discouraging, but I will keep plugging away. No excuses.

by noon I'm now jones'ing to get back home to get on the weights and treadmill - looking for that cheap adrenaline rush. Just got finished with my toughest workout yet and want to go down and do it again!! I'm also 1lb away from my lowest point in nearly 5 years. hoping to see the right side of that by the weekend. and now after almost 3 weeks of eating well, I don't just feel guilty about eating something crappy, I'm having a fucking allergic reaction to it. what my body did to that pizzburgerfucker at wnnotc wasn't pretty ... put it this way, I ate just shy of 3000 calories of grease and sugar and LOST weight.

350.1 (Apr 11) - 343.2 (April 18) = 6.9 down this week.

Switched to a thin/low cal bread for my work lunch. And I cut out the low calorie in between snacks (Fibre granola bar, Special K crisps) and just went totally to apples, pears, carrots.

I've also increased the intensity of my workouts with some cross training. So I'll lift weights, jump on the elliptical for 10 min (or 5 or 15 to switch it up) at an increased pace and then jump off and run back to the weights for a set (or two or three). And then back to the elliptical. I'll do this for about 40 minutes. It's kept it interesting and even fun.

I've cut out fast food, late night snacking, started getting more active, going to get back into the gym soon. Waiting until end of the month to get on a scale. My weight fluctuates too much and its disheartening and de-motivating to see little to no progress. Going on the adage of "if I feel better thats what I want"

Chime in, how you all doing?

I just got my ass kicked again by the Hot personal trainer.....

And on a good note i am down to weighing in at 238lbs at the end of the day. I really think all i needed was a good kick in the ass to get moving again. Seen the dietician today for the first time and she really didn't have much to offer other then to change up the things i eat to different times in the day to get more benefit out of it.

As far as regular clothes go, I do need to do some shopping, but I am a bit of a clothes hoarder. I have lots of old clothes form up to 10 years ago that I now fit into once again. My in-laws did this diet called the Dukan diet where you eat nothing but protein for two weeks. They lost a ton of weight to the point where they looked too thin. You can eat any amount of protein but you have to remove the skin and fat. Not for me but maybe something some meat lovers may want to try.

Just curious about workout routines. Is it better to workout before or after work? I hate getting up early!

Not4you
05-17-2014, 04:36 PM
for weight loss, your best bet is early morning (empty stomach) cardio but at a moderate pace to stay a fair way below your BPM threshold. So for me my max is about 140 BPM so if I was to do early morning workouts I'd be targeting 120-125. Any higher and your body will start using muscle for fuel instead of burning fat.

unfortunately my morning routine with kids and getting ready for work wont allow for a morning workout. instead, once the kids are in bed i hit the bowflex for 20 minutes followed by the treadmill for 45 (at about 3.0 mph). not ideal but its what I can fit into my lifestyle at the moment and it is better than nothing. i have been doing this 5-6 nights a week now.

Good idea for a thread. Some of us are motivated to mod out rides when we see what others are doing. This might have the same results. I started a diet on Feb. 28 that was designed specifically for rapid weight loss prior to surgery. The good news is I don't require surgery now and as a bonus in 21 days I have lost 21lbs. Starting weight was 228.8 lbs and as of this morning I weigh 207.6lbs. I am 6'1" and my goal is to get down around 198lbs and build back muscle not fat. The next 10lbs to lose will be the hardest for me. Good luck everyone and it should be interesting to read about everyone's experiences with trying to lose weight.
Lol @ myself^^ posted number 3 back in March. Now it's May and I'm 197lbs.... my poor health might have something to do with keeping of the weight and loosing a few more pounds. And I might need surgery just a different procedure. I guess the only good thing about these past few months is the weight loss.

I'm not a drinker, but I hear good things about Michelob Ultra. 2carbs per can.

Beer is the devils poison. It contains carbs in the form of maltase which raise your insulin level just like sugar does. The alcohol is turned into citrate in your liver which produces fat and that fat is efficiently stored on your belly, thanks to your now raised insulin levels.

Do you like wine? A glass of dry wine and slice of cheese everyday is ok.

alcohol slows your metabolism. your body wont give a fuck how many carbs are in the beer. when the metabolism is slowed, guess what ... you're gaining weight.

add into this situation that with beer rarely will you also been eating raw broccoli. So - beer slows your body's ability to burn fat and at the same time you are likely shoving wings or ribs or chips or some other crap down your gullet. good luck with that.

Well exactly, especially with shift work, its hard to find time to get a good workout in, let alone eat right.

Any info on the cleanse?

I've now been bowflexing in the morning and treadmilling in the evening, and eating decently (only one cheat meal all week) ... and I'm UP 2lbs. For fuck sakes!!

Hey Matt, don't get down on yourself. You may have lost enough "mass" that your body is rebuilding with muscle, remembering muscle ways more then ummm "mass". Good on your for staying true.

As for the cleanse, strictly liquid and high fiber at that. Greens and berries. 4 visits to the mens room already today and i have been up since 5.

do you make your own juice/smoothie?

I was looking at these (available near my work). They have one called Liguid Plumber lol. But at $12 a bottle and recommended daily intake is 6-8 bottles ... eff that!

If I raided my fridge, my smoothie would be: ketchup, pickled extreme beans, kids applesauce, asian pears, mayonaise and my wifes wine.

4 beers after soccer and a danger can (take tall boy, smash against skull, pass to buddy and repeat. Person that breaks can chugs). Creeping back up on 160. Time to get serious again. Damn summer. I don't mean that. Summer... I love you.

Anyone still on board with this? I fell off the wagon for a bit and started up last week again cause I felt like shit. Lost a few pounds this past week but still have a long way to go.

I am but have plateaued lately. eating is still pretty much in check, but the cardio needs to be kicked up a few notches. the walking I was doing in April, where I was nearly dead by the end, is barely getting me to break a sweat now. But if I jog at all to get the heart rate going, my knees and hips and hamstrings hurt for a few days, keeping me away from linking workouts together. I need to find the right balance. adding some weights has helped a bit recently I think.

the 2 holidays I took were killers for my though. combined I gained over 12lbs during these holidays this summer. nearly half of what I had lost since the spring!

You definitely want to change it up in the workout routine. My trainer sat down with me last night and let me know about lean muscle work being important in moderation to keep the metabolism going strong. Doing just straight cardio will make you plateau and you will gain weight again . So it's good to change up your routine every couple of months.

Im just doing foundation right now, but will be beginning the build phase in a few weeks. Already up to 185 lbs from 180 and I'm not getting fatter.

Im still at 185 somehow, and 18% body fat.... All of that fat on my gut lol. I'm definitely more naturally energetic while being in motion. Of course when I'm just sitting around I get tired, but as long as I'm on my feet moving around I'm ready for anything

Not using any supplements currently, and sure I drink coffee but when its several hours after my last cup and I still have energy it's a sure sign.

Don't take it for granted Jib, you won't be a kid forever. I was the same way until I turned 29. Then my metabolism figured it had done its job, said fuck it and left. By 30 I had put on about 40lbs - I could hear myself get bigger when it was real quiet at night. Then the next 10 years ... well, you've seen me. Now I have to work my ass off to drop a few and maintain. If I could go back 15 years, I would have kept up the good habits I had in my 20s and not just assumed that I would burn energy just standing around like I was.

Starting fresh with a proper well balanced eating regiment. Hitting the gym hard starting Sunday morning. Aiming to lose 30 pounds. I'm 165 cm and weigh 173 pounds (79kg).

I dropped 11lb in September. Joined DietBetter.com at the beginning of the month with a $30 bet. Basically you bet that you can lost 4% of your body weight in 4 weeks. Pay in at $30 and take a split of the pot at the end. Those who drop out or don't make weight in the end get zilch, anyone who hits the mark takes some $$$. My 4% was 10lbs and I ended up losing 11. there was 2000+ people in for the round I joined with a pot of over $64,000. My cut was $45, so I made $15 profit.

I'm using that as credits now toward one starting up on October 7th. Buy in is $25 per month for 6 months (or $125 if you ante the total in advance). Goal is to lose 10% in the 6 months. So I need to be down 25lbs by the first week of April or else some peeps are taking my cash. pot at the moment for this one is $42,000 with a few days before it starts. PM me if you think you are interested and I'll let you know how to join the same one that i am in. There are a lot starting up every day, or you can create your own, but if you want in the same one as me, PM me.

Or, I could start up a private TMC bet ... takers? 4% in 4 weeks??

they say money is a motivator, I think they are right. whoever they are.

Gained about 15lbs, had to stop working out (jogging, weights) due to a back injury from a car accident. Couple months of physio/massages(no not the good kind hehe) I'm starting up my exercise routine again, thinking of joining a Crossfit cult, hoping my back is okay for it...

From everyone I have talked to crossfit = injury at most clubs. Take it slow if you are coming off a bad back.

Yep, I'm fully aware how close I am to that golden age. My gut staying despite my working out and food intake is an indication that my metabolism isn't as speedy as it used to be.

I'm looking to lose the gut, gain some size in muscle and be a lot more naturally energetic and flexible. The only killer is the sitting in the truck waiting for calls. Otherwise I do alright.
