Did a Google search n read a bunch of threads. Ridiculous how common the problem is, Ford only sell as an assembly, no aftermarket parts that I could find.

Found some gears at a salvage yard from a 2011 F150. They appear to be made from some kind of metal. From their weight, probably aluminum as they are not magnetic. I guess Ford recognized that the plastic gears were a problem.
Works like new! Nice cheap fix!

Wow nice job on the fix. Now lets see the brackets your gonna make for the install. I was considering a set of corbeau brackets slightly modified. Keep us posted.
Might be going this way. It's a foxbody install but it should be very similar. Thinking of using spare carpet to cover the brackets.

I got the driver's seat bolted in!! It's not pretty but I wanted to get the seat as low as possible so I don't touch the roof. The rails are on the carpet, so it's as low as it can go. I figure about a 1 to 1 1/2 inch reduction in seat height. I used the video above as a guide and it turn out great, in my opinion. Now it comes out again for wiring, cleaning and to paint the brackets.
I sat in the seat and it's amazing...can't wait till spring!!
